2023 Annual Meeting

Place: Anna Villegas’s Home, 10573 Banner Lava Cap Road, Nevada City
Welcome and Attendance
Chris Crain, PiELL president, called the annual meeting to order at 2:37 p.m. and welcomed those in attendance: Tosca Bini, Judi Kreinick, Jim Peters, Anne Stuart, Bev Stout, Anna Villegas, and Diane Wells.
Approval of Minutes for 2022 Annual Meeting
Chris Crain asked for corrections to the minutes of the 2022 Annual Meeting. Judi Kreinick motioned to approve the minutes as submitted. Bev Stout seconded the motion, and the minutes were approved by unanimous vote.
Annual Financials
Jim Peters presented the January-December 2022 profit and loss statement. 2022 end-of-year financials show PiELL is beginning the year in fairly good financial shape. Briar Patch’s “round up at the register” donations totaled $1800.00 in December of 2022. 2023 insurance costs have been somewhat reduced; other costs remain stable.
2022 Summary
1. PiELL enrollment—of tutors and students—is seeing a post-pandemic surge. New tutors are in the pipeline, and tutor-student matches are increasing monthly.
2. A partnership with the Family Resource Center enabled PiELL to participate in the Latino Festival in Condon Park, generating interest in our services.
3. Local businesses serving the county’s bilingual population have been supportive in allowing PiELL to advertise our program.
4. The success of PiELL students can be seen in their recent milestones: advancement in their jobs, establishment of their own businesses, passing their driver’s license tests, achievement of citizenship, and perhaps most importantly, a sense of empowerment in navigating the English-speaking world.

The following individuals are serving as Executive Officers of PiELL’s Board of Directors for the May 1, 2023 – April 30, 2025 term of office:
President: Chris Crain (year 1 of two-year term ending 4-2025)
Secretary: Anna Villegas (year 1 of two-year term ending 4-2025)
Treasurer: Jim Peters (year 1 of two-year term ending 4-2025)
The following individuals are serving as Directors:

There being no further business, the annual meeting was concluded at 2:45 p.m.
